Jerry's Sandwiches (jerryssandwiches.com) is one of my favorite sandwich shops ever. Their extensive menu was proof that there are infinite possibilities of what you can put between two slices of bread.
While I was disappointed to learn that Jerry's West Loop location was closing, I had high hopes of the new po' boy shop that would open in it's place. As I've said before, I hold Cajun food as the gold standard of culinary perfection. And because Mac & Mins is just another restaurant concept by the same husband and wife team that owns Jerry's, I figured this was going to take the mufulletta to a whole 'nother level!
Ummm....not so much.
All I have to say is that if you really want to try Mac & Min's, go soon. I don't think this place will survive.....
Here's their attempt at a muffuletta. (Maybe I should send them my pics from Central Grocery??? http://feastwithfriends.blogspot.com/2010/04/new-orleans-my-food-mecca.html Not even close!
Dinner parties, cooking for two, checking out the latest hot spots & dives, or experimenting with food in my kitchen... I love it all. I'm food obsessed! This is a chronicle of my food adventures.

New Orleans.... My Food Mecca
Hands down the best food in the country!
One good thing came out of my three-year stint in southeast Texas -- exposure to Cajun / Creole food. Incredibly rich and flavorful, Cajun cuisine is my absolute favorite.... and there is no better place to enjoy it than in New Orleans.
I would argue that NOLA (New Orleans, LA) has the highest concentration of the best restaurants in the country. Think of it as foodie heaven.
Here's what we had during a recent trip....
Brennan's Restaurant
417 Royal St
New Orleans, LA 70130

NOLA Restaurant
534 Saint Louis Street
New Orleans, LA 70130

This is Chef Emeril Lagasse's spot! The banana pudding layer cake is fantastic!!!
Cafe du Monde
800 Decatur St
New Orleans, Louisiana 70116
www.cafedumonde.com
During peak times, Cafe du Monde has lines around the block. The best time to go is early morning (7am - when all the partyers are still sleeping) or late night (aka - early early morning 3am or so when the partyers are still in full swing.... There's nothing more classic than watching drunk people trying to eat powdered sugar-covered beignets!).
Random food & drinks over the course of our trip....
